OKAY! This is IT! Our First Gathering of 2007!
I know that this post doesn't involve the Powerhouse, EXCEPT that I've talked about Gay Geeks a lot and many of the people I've talked with have said, "Please let me know when you have your next event." Well, naturally I've either lost their email addresses or spilled drinks on them and made the notes illegible. So, here's the blurb:
I can't STAND it anymore! I've had one vapid conversation too many.
Announcing the next Original Gay Geeks Gathering:
Saturday, August 18, 2:00pm Mission Creek Cafe, back room 968 Valencia Street (betw 20th and 21st) San Francisco
I haven't cleared this with management (hell, I'd have to be there before 11am on a weekday!) but what the heck. They have good food (try the Chicken Salpicon sandwich!) and a good atmosphere. Heck, there are even books for sale in the back room. How much more nerdy can you get?
Gay Geeks is a haven for intellectuals and visionaries. Thus, your learned geekery is most welcome. If you study languages, streetcars, oceans, Islam, or have a collection of Elvis postcards, or you're running for mayor of SF, you're our kind of people. Come on by. This sets the Original Gay Geeks apart from other such groups. The group doesn’t focus on computers, and it doesn’t focus on gay issues. In fact, we’ve usually gone through hours of discussions and not mentioned computers or gay folks even once.
I envision that this gathering will meet the FIRST and THIRD Saturdays of the month at 2:00pm, but always read the email first to be sure where we're meeting.
